Esta colecção procura construir um mapa afectivo de viagens singulares realizadas por personagens reconhecidas da cultura arquitectónica. Um roteiro pelos vários continentes, mas também pelo universo dos autores. Neste livro, Pedro Bandeira leva-nos numa viagem pelo deserto norte-americano até Arcosanti, a cidade de Paolo Soleri. Num relato sobre a experiência de percorrer de carro o interior americano, evitando as cidades e “coleccionando parques naturais e desertos”, Pedro Bandeira vagueia entre o deserto e o significado da viagem. No caminho, encontra Arcosanti, explorando a cidade experimental isolada no Arizona, revelando-a nos negativos do filme preto e branco do filme Kodak 35mm, descobrindo o nível de pormenor da arquitectura de Soleri, “capaz de domesticar as diversas volumetrias de betão-armado”, mas também a “informalidade pragmática” com que o tempo e a comunidade que lá vive ocuparam o lugar.

The aim of this collection is to construct a map of emotions from unique journeys undertaken by recognised personalities from the architectural culture. A tour around the various continents, but also the universe of its authors. In this journey, Pedro Bandeira takes us to Arcosanti, the city of Paolo Soleri. In a tail about the experience of driving the American interior by car, avoiding cities and “collecting nature parks and deserts”, Pedro Bandeira wanders between the desert an the meaning of the trip. On the way, he finds Arcosanti, exploring the experimental city isolated in Arizona, revealing it in the negatives of the Kodak 35mm black-and-white film, uncovering the level of detail of Soleri’s architecture, “capable of taming the various reinforced concrete masses” but also the “pragmatic informality” with which time and the community that lives there occupied the place.
