Portuguese Sweet Treats – Take a Slice of Portugal With You

The best of Portuguese sweets and pastries in your very own home.

Beautiful Portugal: known for its sunny shores, verdant landscapes, breathtaking cities… and, of course, mouth-watering food!

A less well-known tidbit about Portuguese culture is that we are one of the very few countries on earth where people sit at the table eating delicious meals while discussing other delicious meals they have eaten or will soon eat. Yes, we are a food-fascinated nation; and now, you too can share in this fascination, hands-on, with a collection of some of the most delicious pastry and dessert recipes by one of Portugal’s bestselling pastry chefs.

Rita Nascimento, aka La Dolce Rita, bakes the most delectable sweets and pastries, with her signature fuss-free, simple and accessible recipes (always remember: where there’s a whisk, there’s a way!). For this book, she has brought together some of her favourite sweet treats of the Portuguese gastronomic tradition, from classics like the world-renowned Pastel de Nata and Rice Cakes, Coconut Pastries, Palmiers, Pillow Pastries or “God’s bread” to the historical conventual sweets such as Sericaia, Abbot-of-Priscos Flan or Moist Almond Cakelets, and lesser-known delicacies such as ‘Napkins’, ‘Furies’ or ‘Camel’s drool’. All outrageously delicious, easy to make – and even easier to devour.

An irresistible delicacy for gourmands of all nationalities, Portuguese Sweet Treats will allow you to recreate the indulgence of afternoon tea in a pastelaria or dessert time in your favourite tasca in your very own home – and made by your very own hands.

Bom apetite!
